Best Bars in Koh Tao

Sairee carries Koh Tao’s loudest drinking rooms, while Mae Haad and the hillside offer more space for conversation. Cocktails, casual beer bars, live sport and a drag cabaret share one honest view of the island’s nights.

  1. The Gold Bar

The Gold Bar pours cocktails, wine and draught beer on the hillside above Sairee, beside The Gallery Restaurant. The view takes in the western bays, while sports screens give the terrace another purpose after sunset. It admits adults aged eighteen and over.

  2. Barracuda Rooftop Restaurant & Bar

Barracuda serves seafood sharing platters, barracuda ceviche and fish tacos above Sairee, with a wine list and cocktails that justify lingering over dinner. Guitar and vocal sets run from 19:00 to 21:00; reserve a sunset table during busy periods.

  3. Tattoo Bar & Restaurant

Tattoo Bar serves beer, cocktails and Thai food in a spacious open-air room at the southern end of Mae Haad beach. Ferries and dive boats move across the view, and the atmosphere remains more conversational than Sairee’s dance bars. The food menu runs beyond bar snacks.

  4. Choppers Sports Bar

Choppers pours draught and craft beer around eighteen screens and two projectors, with burgers and Australian pub food from the kitchen. Simultaneous sports coverage makes it useful for major fixtures across time zones. Pub-crawl arrivals and live-music nights bring a larger crowd than an ordinary afternoon screening.

  5. Queen’s Cabaret

Queen’s Cabaret stages costumed drag performances, fast choreography and comic audience participation in central Sairee. Doors open at 21:00 and the show usually starts at 21:30. Admission is supported by drink purchases; bring cash for drinks and performer tips.

  6. Fishbowl Beach Bar

Fishbowl combines beach seating, beer-pong tables and live acoustic music with a much louder late-night DJ programme. The open deck fills with divers and backpackers before dancing takes over. Choose it for a sociable, crowded night; conversations compete with the sound system later on.
